To All our XLR owners, Gismo is our latest Member and offered to help with all you XLR needs. Read his introduction. Its impressive. He will be the Admin of the XLR pages. So as time goes on, you will see the improvement in the XLR section. Welcome Gizmo.I'm Ross: I live in northeast pa and run a small allante repair shop out of my home.I would love to see pics of your xlr-v.i'm not a racer but have always wanted to hop up the northstar in my 93(currently wrecked awaiting Repairs..none of my cars are show quality but that doesn't stop me from taking them to local shows.stop by the chat room when you get a chance think you will enjoy talking to some of the guys.johnny has a set thurs 8 pm edt chat but some of us use it on a daily basis.

Hello All,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Marvin, but Gizmo is my preferred callsign. I am the proud owner of a 2006 Cadillac XLR-V that I've owned since 2010. I am a retired USAF Officer, former pilot, former entrepreneur, former inventor, and current XLR enthusiast. I show and race my car. Its my daily driver from Spring to Fall. I don't claim to be an expert on the vehicle, but I know which experts to call upon. In my retirement, I have decided to live out a lifetime fantasy - racing. Every year I choose a venue and spend the year acquiring the skills and mods to be proficient. 2012 was Land Speed Racing where I currently hold 1 world record and two track records. 2013 was Autocross where I won the region championship for Super Sport Modified class. 2014 was my year for experiencing Road courses - after several different tracks, I realize I'm not good at it so this year I'll be signing up for every driving school I can fit into my schedule. This quote from a fellow racer sums up my problem:

Fear slows you down. Fear of the machine. Fear for the machine. Fear for yourself.

To be able to drive at 10/10ths of your talent all of this must be conquered.

You cannot fear the machine. You must respect it and know the limits of it, but you cannot fear it.

You cannot fear for the machine. This does not mean to drive recklessly or intentionally do things that can damage it, but you cannot fear damage to the car.

You cannot fear for yourself. This does not mean to drive without thought to safety. Take as much care to protect yourself as you deem necessary, then trust in the equipment.

When the fear is gone, the mind is free to focus on the speed.

Look at Senna. In the rain, other drivers had fear. They were afraid of the rain, of their machines. Senna knew his limits, and felt no fear.

My car is no garage queen. I put 30,000+ miles on it a year. I show it at car shows from local ones to several national events. It will never place in a Concourse D'Elegance type show (because racecar), but I'll show it nonetheless. I race it every chance I get (at sanctioned event and therefore have no desire to race on the streets). Its a requested attendee for all Team Cadillac Racing events of which I try to attend at least 2/year. During the winter its usually in someones Speed Shop getting repaired as a result of the previous months carnage and getting modified for the next year's adventure. While there are a few aftermarket parts available, Elwood has become a testbed for NorthStar go fast mods and one-of-a-kind add-ons.

Well that's me and my car, I can't wait to see what other here think.
