Fuel Pump Assembly Replacement 93
Author Last Post
Gerald yes I did some testing early last year on the fuel pump for another issue but wasn't looking at drain back at the time plus I don't think I had this problem then so that is what I will be looking at when I retest. Thanks for the info on the pump assemblies.

Matt
Johnny in the service manual it looks like the check valve comes with the assembly.Does it come with the pump? That would be much cheaper if it did.

Matt
Delphi is generally a good brand for fuel pumps. Denso is also a good brand. You might want to check Rock Auto for prices.

Have you attached a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail port to monitor pressures?

The Factory Service Manual will be a valuable resource for diagnostics and pump replacement.

1993 V4J Pearl Mist, 1993 V4J Opaque White
you can just replace the pump should cost you under 60.00

I have a couple of more tests to do when the weather warms up but it looks like I will be replacing my fuel pump assembly. My issue is that when the car is warmed up (or cold it does not matter)after sitting off for only a few minutes there is no fuel on the first couple of try's to start it. However if I turn the ignition on for a few seconds then off a couple of times it starts right up. Sometimes if I only on/off the ignition once then crank it the engine will start but miss for a few seconds then run smooth. This has lead me to believe the check valve in the fuel pump assembly has failed and the fuel is running back to the tank when I shut it off.

I have two questions.
First does anyone have any other ideas on this issue?
Second there are two brands I see for replacement. The Delphi FG runs as low as $179.00 and the Spectra SP6732M is well over $200.00. Is there any real difference in the quality of these two replacements? I would like to save a little money if possible.
